Lightview Plus is a wordpress plug-in which integrates Lightview into your wordpress blog and automatically changes all image links, so the images will open with lightview. Now, it is possible to show videos from YouTube and Vimeo with lightview.
Installation
- Copy the lightview-plus directory to the wordpress plug-in directory under /wp-content/
- Download Lightview javascript and decompress it
- Copy the directories „css“, „images“ and „js“ of the decompressed folder to /wp-content/plugins/lightview-plus/
- Activate the plug-in in the plug-in menu
- That’s it!
Update
To backup the lightview javascript on update, it is possible to activate a backup function in the options menu.
Embed Images
- Choose an image of your choice, as you have done it in wordpress many times
- Create a link with this image to a bigger version of this image
- All the rest is done from lightview-plus automatically

Embed Videos
- Click the new button „Embed Video“
- In the pop-up choose the portal you want to use (at the moment only YouTube and Vimeo. More in one of the next version).
- Insert the video id
- Choose, if you want a link text under the video
- Enter the link text
- Click INSERT

FAQ
Nothing is opened with lightview?
In you theme the <?php wp_head(); ?> is missing. Please, add it.
Images are still not opened with lightview!
Maybe an other plug-in uses jQuery or an older version of prototype oder scriptaculous. Deactivate the plug-ins or let me know if you found an alternative.
I added images to my text, but they are not clickable and they are not shown with lightview.
You have to create a link to the image. E. g. create a link from the image to the same image or a bigger one.
Is there a jQuery version of lightview?
I am not the author of lightview. I have done a wrapper for wordpress. Please, ask the author of lightview and let me know about the alternative.

Is it possible to make it work with NGG singlepic mode? It inserts pictures with lightbox[] style (or any other set into NGG options), but lightview plus doesn’t seem to pick it..
Yes, it works with the Next Gen Gallery. You have to add the lightview thing in the ngg options. class=„lightview“ and rel=„gallery[%gallery%]

ATTENTION: It only works, if you do not have the embedded video plugin activated
I just saw this. Now it works fine. I disabled all other video related plugins including Quicktags, Vodpod, Tubepress etc.
Can’t seem to get the video to embed/display correctly… help please?

Kaepos, your monochrome theme uses jquery, which is in some circumstances not compatible with the prototype framework, which is needed for lightview.
Either you have to remove jquery out of your theme or you can use my other plugin TopUp Plus, which works with jQuery.
I am having the same problems as Phil describes. Even manually upload all the files in the download package, and that error still appears. Is the package missing files?

I am a beginner so sorry if this is a stupid question, but… I have installed Lightview Plus and it is working fine. I am using it with vimeo.
At the moment the video launches to a video of the same size as the thumbnail. When I look in Lightbox Plus General Settings there is no option to make the sizes of the thumbnail and final video different.
Please help!
You could change in the lightview plus options menu under the point „video“ (you have to scroll down) the sizes.…

For that you have to edit the css file which comes with lightview javascript

currently not. If you find a good way to do these things very simple, so that every user can do it, than I will implement it.
– create a preview thumbnail of the video
– create different versions of the video. One flash version, ogg– and h264-version.
I have the plugin installed, and am able to add a video to my post, but when I view it, it says ‚this video is not available‘. i’ve seen this on other people’s pages even though half of their videos show up — some do not and have that message. i’m wondering if its something i’m doing or if its a youtube thing — however, i’m able to insert the same video at wordpress.com and at facebook. any thots? thanks.
