Lightview Plus is a wordpress plug-in which integrates Lightview into your wordpress blog and automatically changes all image links, so the images will open with lightview. Now, it is possible to show videos from YouTube and Vimeo with lightview.
Installation
- Copy the lightview-plus directory to the wordpress plug-in directory under /wp-content/
- Download Lightview javascript and decompress it
- Copy the directories „css“, „images“ and „js“ of the decompressed folder to /wp-content/plugins/lightview-plus/
- Activate the plug-in in the plug-in menu
- That’s it!
Update
To backup the lightview javascript on update, it is possible to activate a backup function in the options menu.
Embed Images
- Choose an image of your choice, as you have done it in wordpress many times
- Create a link with this image to a bigger version of this image
- All the rest is done from lightview-plus automatically
Examples for Images
Embed Videos
- Click the new button „Embed Video“
- In the pop-up choose the portal you want to use (at the moment only YouTube and Vimeo. More in one of the next version).
- Insert the video id
- Choose, if you want a link text under the video
- Enter the link text
- Click INSERT
Find out the Video ID
- YouTube: http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=DYgZOY2g27w
- Vimeo: http://www.vimeo.com/1573042
- Blip.TV: It’s a little bit complicated. To show the this blip.tv video, you have to click on the share button. Under „embed episode“ find in the embed code this URL: http://a.blip.tv/api.swf#hPt7gu3pUgI . The highlighted part is the one you need to run the video with lightview plus

FAQ
Nothing is opened with lightview?
In you theme the <?php wp_head(); ?> is missing. Please, add it.
Images are still not opened with lightview!
Maybe an other plug-in uses jQuery or an older version of prototype oder scriptaculous. Deactivate the plug-ins or let me know if you found an alternative.
I added images to my text, but they are not clickable and they are not shown with lightview.
You have to create a link to the image. E. g. create a link from the image to the same image or a bigger one.
Is there a jQuery version of lightview?
I am not the author of lightview. I have done a wrapper for wordpress. Please, ask the author of lightview and let me know about the alternative.

I’ve re-installed the plugin, but it still doesn’t work. I have also deactivated other video tag plugins. Please help.
I tried this on another blog and have now got the same error even after deactivating all other plugins

As described above, the file lightview-plus-popup.php is missing. As I tried to open it on your website, I got an 404-error which is an indicator, that the file is not there or maybe it has wrong file permissions.

Why do you ask me for your problems with prototype? Do you have jQuery also installed in on your blog?
Sorry, I mentioned scriptalicious as it was installed to support lightview-plus.

And I don’t support scriptacolous nor the lightview javascript, because I haven’t written them
OK, if you installed jQuery, that’s the problem. Try my TopUp Plus Plugin, which uses jQuery or remove jQuery, to use lightview-plus

It’s really a great plugin and lightview is the best one to me. Was wondering if there’s a way to disable the protection of right click to save image feature so visitor can save images using the right click. Thank you very much!

I’m wondering what I need to modify to change lightview settings. I realize it’s not directly supported by the plugin’s backend, but since lightview offers support for something like a slideshow delay (I want to set it to 3s), I would imagine modifying or adding something to lightview plus would work.

Artem, you have to change it in the lightview.js file in the plugin-directory.
Yeah, that’s what I ended up doing. Was hoping I could do this so I don’t have to maintain changes across version upgrades, the way the Lightview API describes.

Quick question. I have hunted through the included files but can not figure out where to do this. I am using your Lightview Plus plug in and DO NOT want images on a page automatically grouped in the lightbox. Right now when you click an image the lightbox appears and it shows the image the title and another line: image x of x and play. I only want the title to show unless I code the hooks in myself to show multiple images. What code and where needs to be altered, and how.

Lawrence, for this, there is no option. Every image in one post will be grouped. If you don’t want it, you have to change the code of the plugin yourself.

Niel, I had a look at you website. I saw, that you can’t see any videos? Right? What videos do you want to play? Vimeo, Blip.tv or YouTube? Is fopen enabled in php? Is it possible for you, to open remote files?

The files I want to play are from vimeo. It did work before in pre-3.0 … so I think fopen is enabled.
