Lightview Plus is a wordpress plug-in which integrates Lightview into your wordpress blog and automatically changes all image links, so the images will open with lightview. Now, it is possible to show videos from YouTube and Vimeo with lightview.
Installation
- Copy the lightview-plus directory to the wordpress plug-in directory under /wp-content/
- Download Lightview javascript and decompress it
- Copy the directories „css“, „images“ and „js“ of the decompressed folder to /wp-content/plugins/lightview-plus/
- Activate the plug-in in the plug-in menu
- That’s it!
Update
To backup the lightview javascript on update, it is possible to activate a backup function in the options menu.
Embed Images
- Choose an image of your choice, as you have done it in wordpress many times
- Create a link with this image to a bigger version of this image
- All the rest is done from lightview-plus automatically
Examples for Images
Embed Videos
- Click the new button „Embed Video“
- In the pop-up choose the portal you want to use (at the moment only YouTube and Vimeo. More in one of the next version).
- Insert the video id
- Choose, if you want a link text under the video
- Enter the link text
- Click INSERT

FAQ
Nothing is opened with lightview?
In you theme the <?php wp_head(); ?> is missing. Please, add it.
Images are still not opened with lightview!
Maybe an other plug-in uses jQuery or an older version of prototype oder scriptaculous. Deactivate the plug-ins or let me know if you found an alternative.
I added images to my text, but they are not clickable and they are not shown with lightview.
You have to create a link to the image. E. g. create a link from the image to the same image or a bigger one.
Is there a jQuery version of lightview?
I am not the author of lightview. I have done a wrapper for wordpress. Please, ask the author of lightview and let me know about the alternative.

Hi and thanks for the plugin. I get the plugin set up and working with no issues, but suddenly its not working with my videos and also with images. I just updated WP today by the way. Any idea whats up? Here are the two pages with the issues -

Images are not opened using Lightview, and I added the links to the images. But what do you mean by

Can I set the lightview style back to its ‚original‘ as presented at Nick Stackenburg’s site, including the play, pause button’s etc.?

While opening the video I can see ugly scrollbars in my Lightbox-Frame. The zooming is amazing. Does exist stil a version in german language?
Your instructions read „Click the new button „Embed Video““ but don’t say where this icon is. Could you clarify that?

Is there a way to exclude images or links from showing in Lightview? Now, every link with an image is shown in Lightview.
Currently, there is no way to exclude. But why would you like to exclude some images? I don’t see any reason for this…
I installed it and it is working fine with images, however it is not doing anything (no pop-up) with videos. Any ideas?

I installed everything, click on the „embedded video,“ the pop-up window appears, but nothing inside it. Its just a blank window? Any thoughts?
Maybe, you have to wait a little bit longer, until the window loads in this window.
When i insert a Youtube video, I have no problems. The videos are all in HD– when I try to use the same Youtube video code in the Youtube HQ upload, the video will not play. I am trying to force the HD version of the video to default rather the low resolution. Any ideas?

Normally there is no difference anymore, if you choose HD or not.
Sure. Just posted it to show you. The last two videos are the same. The only difference is that I put the link in the 2nd video under Youtube and the 3rd video under Youtube HQ.

Thanks for fixing it. If it is not available for 24 hours, do I set my blog to post 24 hours later if the video is not available or will the video revert to the lower quality version to be viewable until it is ready?
It will be available in 24 hours. You can’t do anything to get it faster and there isn’t a fallback option to lower res.
OK, then the best practice when using Youtube HQ is to set the blog post to go live 24 hours later to that a broken video link is not posted.
I don’t know why, but the last version isn’t linked to the youtube video. Which version have you installed of lightview plus? I think, the actual, or?
OK, Brian. It was a bug. I fixed it and loaded it up to the wordpress repository. It may available in a few minutes.
After you installed the new version, your HQ videos come available in 24 hours, due to a caching mechanism in lightview plus. Remember this!
The actual version of Lightview needs prototype 1.7 but Lightview Plus loads the 1.6.1 version.
I have fixed it saving a local version of prototype, can you set the prototype to load from Google to 1.7 version, please?
If you choose google as prototype host, you already get prototyp 1.7. So, nothing to change.
The last version 2.5.3.2 doesn’t work at all. Internet Explorer gives me an Exception not catched error.
I think, you installed the new version of the lightview javascript (errors in the webbrowser comes from the javascript, not from my plugin). The new lightview javascript requires prototype 1.7, but my script comes with an older version.
In the lightview plus options menu, switch to load prototype from google to get the newest 1.7 prototype version and the error disappears.
I have this option activated, but in the HTML source code, the page loads from Google the 1.6x version.

If uploaded a new version of lightview plus with the new version of prototype 1.7 to wordpress.org. I think, it will be active in a hour or so.
You can choose both. A google hosted version of prototype or your local version. Both are now 1.7
